Online Tool to Calculate Resistor Color Code – The Story Behind Scenes

Online Tool to Calculate Resistor Color Code – The Story Behind Scenes

We have been working on an online application to calculate resistor color codes for the past 2 weeks. If you were subscribed to our Facebook Feed, you might already have tried the tool. We got really good feedback about the tool from people who have tried it. If you have not tried the tool yet, here is the link to access the tool – Resistor Color Code Calculator. Why one more tool ? We know there are many tools out there to calculate resistor color codes. You might be wondering – why one more ? We have given our tool…

Digital thermometer using 8051

Digital thermometer using 8051

Thermometer using 8051. This article is about a simple 0-100°C digital thermometer with 1°C resolution using 8051. The circuit is based on LM35 analog temperature sensor, ADC0804 and AT89S51 microcontroller. LM35 is an analogue temperature sensor IC which can measure a temperature range of -55 to 150°C. Its output voltage varies 10mV per °C change in temperature. For example, if the temperature is 32°C, the output voltage will be 32 x 10mV = 320mV. ADC 0804 is used to convert the analogue output voltage of the LM35 to a proportional 8 bit digital value suitable for the microcontroller. The microcontroller accepts…

Indian ISP Reliance and Airtel blocks Torrentz Dailymotion Vimeo and many other websites

The Indian ISP’s (Internet service providers) like Reliance and Airtel blocks many popular websites like Torrentz.eu (and many torrents file sharing websites), video sharing sites like Dailymotion, Vimeo and many other popular, useful websites. When you try to access these websites from an Airtel connection – it reports “Access to this site has been blocked as per Court Orders”. But in fact this “blocking” is based on an order from Telecom department of India as per the TheNextWeb report. The “Reliance” guys are notorious (even months before the telecom dept issued any order)for blocking many popular video sharing sites at…

Open Source Hardware will revolutionize the way we learn Electronics

our vision is to freely distribute electronics knowledge. Now that means, we want any one with an interest in electronics to learn as much as he would like. We make this easy by giving away free content in the form of practical circuits and theoretical explanation. In a way we can be called as an “open source” but not exactly! We have not associated this website with any open source movement so far. For all these years we were focused on developing analog circuits and theory of basic electronics concepts and we are not done yet! We will…

7 segment display driver

7 segment display. Seven segment display is a device that can display decimal numbers and are widely used in electronic clocks, electronic meters, digital display panels and a hand full of applications where numerical data is is displayed. The idea of seven segment display is very old and they are in the scenario from early nineteenth century. Seven segment display have seven segments which can be individually controlled (ON/OFF) to display the desired number. Numbers from 0 to 9 can be displayed using various combinations of the segments and in addition to this the hexadecimal letters A to F can…

The History of Electronics-Infographics

Hey guys, Ever thought how the world as we see it now evolved? How came great inventions and discoveries? What were the reasons behind all these great inventions like Diodes, Transistors, IC”s and Micro computers? Here we have developed an Infographics (representing information with the help of graphics) which shows the “History of Electronics”. Note: To view the image in full size – Click on the image or Right click on the image and press “Open Link in New Tab”. Note 2: You can freely distribute this image anywhere in other websites/blogs/forums!

Voltage Limiter Circuit Using Op-amp

An op-amp is usually used as a comparator in cases where its speed and accuracy are not critical. As illustrated in the earlier post (OP-AMP COMPARATOR), the switching speed of the op-amp comparator can be improved and noise can also be eliminated. The offset problems can also be reduced by adding a voltage compensating network and a offset reducing resistor. Since the op-amp is originally designed to act as an amplifier, its output will not act linearly with logic families like TTL. A TTL requires input voltages which range between (0-5) volts. Thus, to keep the op-amp’s output voltage swing…
